Welcome!
Battlefield Advanced is a story driven multiplayer modification for Battlefield 2142, loosely based on Nintendo's Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. You control a single foot soldier on the side of the righteous Orange Star army, or the evil Black Hole army. As that soldier you can operate ground, air, and sea vehicles and turn the tide of battle, or you can become the commander and deploy vehicles, supplies, or call upon your CO's wide set of powers. The commander may be in control of the army, but the soldier is in control of his and his comrades fate. Use your unit's specialized weaponry, loosely based upon real world weapons, and capture strategic points on the map. There are always several different ways to accomplish victory be it in the field of battle or in the command room--will you choose correctly?
About the Mod:
Is it Single Player or Multi-Player?
Multiplayer, but planned bot matches. Perhaps a campaign mode in the future.
What is this game?
Team based, large scale combat.
Why create this game? To transfer the storyline and style of Advance Wars into a first-person context
Where does the game take place?
A universe much like ours, across the Nation of Orange Star.
What do I control?
A single foot soldier on the sides of either the Orange Star military or the Black Hole army. This soldier is cleared to operate all manner of ground vehicles. Certain classes can control powerful air and sea vehicles, and team commanders can call upon a wide set of powers depending on their faction and the map.
What is the main focus?
Diverse, large scale team combat.
What's different?
It will focus on multiple ways of fighting (for example, if you deploy a barricade and create a defensive zone, the enemy can blow open a manhole and use the sewers under the street). Also, destructible environments and unique art style diversify it from other titles. Factories are also available to create ground combat vehicles for the armies to use.
What weapons are available to me?
Many of the weapons of the mod are conventional and based upon real-world weaponry, but all have unique features, be it ricocheting bullets, explosive rounds, or fragmentation shells. However, the Black Hole have several strange, unique weapons such as flamethrowers, a shoulder-mounted laser, tank-busting sniper-rifle and gravity grenades. The Orange Star, not to be outdone, have EMP rifles that can disable vehicles, chalk grenades that blind enemies, white-noise emmiters that disorient soldiers using special view modes and remote-detonated grenades. Both sides also have medics with very different purposes; the Orange Star medic can revive fallen soldiers while the Black Hole Recycler can harvest the bonic system of a fallen warrior to gain their side extra reinforcement points.
What about Vehicles?
Both sides have a wide variety of vehicles to their name. Common to both are the conventional vehicles like light and medium tanks, scout cars, jet fighters, attack helicopters, and the like. However, both sides have very different approaches to vehicles; the simple Black Hole vehicles are slow, heavily armed and regenerate health, while the Orange Star vehicles move rapidly, are very robust and have computer-assisted aiming with zoom and laser sighting. However, both sides have unique vehicles as well. The Black Hole have the ultra-heavy walking "Neotanks", jet-powered dropships with rocket pods that can deploy soldiers, massive landing ships that can slowly grind up a beach, and more. The Orange Star have transport helicopters, a variety of stationary defense weapons, and specially modifications of existing vehicles armed with everything from anti-missile microwave shields to laser target painters.
What can I do as Commander?
In the spirit of Advance Wars, there are a variety of Commanding Officers (COs) that fight for their factions on certain maps. Play as Orange Star CO Andy to airdrop repair packs and EMP bombs. Black Hole CO Lash can level buildings with a one-ton artillery shells and drop movable barriers to defend her troops. There are eight COs on either side, each with unique class sets in their armies and vehicle modifications.
